New Wedding Belle Magazine

I have been very lucky this year with magazines publishing my work, and the team from Wedding Belle Magazine have picked another one of my weddings to be featured in the Magazine....yippee!
Its the Winter issue and it should be in The Shops next week, and its the wedding of Ruth and Alan! So if you see a mag with this lady on the cover, go buy it..:) ( cover image is not my work i will find out who did it.)

The Clown!

Its nearing the end of 2006, and as i am busy putting out album designs, its time for some reflection. The reason for this was sparked because off a recent visit with my son, to a medical clinic (don't worry the baba is OK , but he needs a small operation in January 2007. I tried to find a parking space and after 10 min of driving spotted a space, well of course i wasn't the only one and someone got in there before me. That did not really make me happy, and of course i blamed the universe and Dublin traffic, for the great injustice that was brought upon me...:) I did manage to look at the guy getting out of the car, and he was a Clown! ( no really) he had the full gear on funny trousers the painted face the whole lot. I found a spot anyway, and me and The Clown met again, as we were buying our parking tickets. When i was walking to the medical clinic i just saw The Clown again, almost running in to the Children's Hospital! And of course that's where it hits me, Mr Clown was urgently called to the Hospital to relieve some poor kids, suffering, bringing at least a smile to their faces, and i realised again that no matter how shitty lives sometimes gets, theire are children and parents at this time, who are a lot worse off than i am. So i think reflection is important, so make sure to enjoy the Holiday season, have some great time with your loved ones...:) and think about the kids and parentsevery where around the world that need our support. Say again how much?

Regarding the previous post, I think the book is sort of sold out, and another edition is at the moment not in sight. Just because Thom contacted me to check out the price, I did a quick search on google, and the book is going from 75 to 400 dollar, wauw, that made it for me the best investment in years because I bought it for 50 euro. So forget about shares by books...:)

March 2001 in Galway

Front cover NewYork at night 1948 by Ted Crooner . March 2001, walking in Galway (one of my favourite cities over here) and I passed a second hand bookshop. My eye caught a book that was displayed in the window, an image of another City that I admire New York was printed on the cover, walked in, started to read the book, bought it, and from that moment on my whole look on photography changed forever! The book is one of the best examples of street photography, it has images that range from film noir to die hard crime coverage, above al the images are sometimes not perfect but capture so much more because of this. Words fall short so I will see if I can publish some images here later, if you see this book anywhere pick it up and be inspired, I know I was, it gave me a new direction on how to cover weddings. 3 years later I was rewarded with the honour of becoming a member of one of the most profound and sought after associations the www.wpja.com , as I realized again today, how your direction can change buy just one single moment..:)

Got it again...:)

What's so special about a wedding in April? For one the Sun! If you are lucky and you have a perfect sunny day, the Sun is still very low in the sky, and that can create some really special backlight as seen in this image. ( Irish visitors to my site, the Sun, its that yellow round thing up in the sky that sometimes appears...:) ok just kidding. Here is the image...:) I hope to share some more images later this week of this fantastic wedding!

Whats Duotone/Sepia again?

Sepia, is as you can see from this sample above a browny/dark orange colour (forgive, my poor description) it can give a nice warm feeling to an image if used well. And in a wedding album always with moderation, because overkill is never good. This image was shot at the wedding from Tina and Brian who got married in March 2006, and i hope to publish some more images of that wedding when all the editing is done.

Got it!

A good wedding shoot is also about getting the details right. In my efforts to get even more creative with rings, i think this is a nice one.

Getting Shot!

Nope , dont worry its not me i am still hopping on my 2 legs. Thats not what i can say for my fellow www.wpja.com member Toby Morris, he thought is was a good idea to go to Iraq to capture events over there, no not weddings ofcourse. While on patrol with his unit, a sniper took aim at him and shot him in the leg, twice! After being flown to Germany he is now at home in the US recovering from his injuries. In the last e-mail that i got from Toby he wrote that he was very happy to be at home and i quote ''Yea, I am sticking to weddings for a while'' Good man Toby, and ofcourse a speedy recovery. Weddings can be eventfull, but at least we dont get shot!

Reportage

Sometimes during editing an image just grabs me. This is just one of them, its describes in one image what i am trying to do with the Reportage style, being there like a fly on the wall, taking images as they happen.

Birthday Boy

My Sons birthday is coming up he is almost 3, I asked what he wanted for his birthday. After being silent for 3 seconds ( that's a worldrecord by the way) he came up with the following items, a cake, a flower and a candle. So sweet, but I think next year he's going to have his list ready..:) I am going to by him a big castle by the way, so his dad is happy to, and next year he is going to have a pooltable on his list as well, but please don't ask me how it got on the list!

Blog me up before you Go Go....

Blog me up before you GoGo, that's the most original thought I came up with to start my blogging career, it should say something about my age because I was around when Wham! was. Follow the ups and downs of myself and read about my big passion Photography. Well there is many other passions as well, but he just start reading and you will discover it...:) Eddie
