Whats you favourite lens?

One of the most asked questions that I get asked about my gear is, what's your favourite lens? Well I have many, but the lens that's on top of my list is at the moment the Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR. The quality of this lens is just incredible, little or no distortion, good colours, and amazing low-light results. There is just one downside, its pretty heavy, but just as in life you cant have it all.

Still a portrait, just a bit different

I have the best Job ever!

For anyone who was in Ireland in June, well eahh let me tell ya it was wet..:). I had the privelege of shooting Karen and Brians wedding, and it was a truly great day, in the afternoon we had sunshine, rain, strong winds, and some dry spells as well in the wicklow mountains. I discoverd after 15 mins by timing that i had about 5 mins of no rain, so we would run out and get some pictures, hard work for everybody but we pulled it off, 3 days ago i got this mail after i gave Karen her album. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Eddie Just to let you know we were more than happy with our wedding album. It was amazing and really captured everything we could have wanted for our wedding day. We got a lot of brilliant comments from friends and family saying how fabulous it was. Thank you very much again and ill be sure to recommend you to anybody, Karen ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just think i have the best job in the world!

No Pictures,please!

When I meet clients I often hear the phrase '' I hate my picture being taken''. That's the moment where we as photographers jump in and smooth things over a bit with phrases like unobtrusive, you wont see me, and since I am somewhere above 6 foot something, I really try to be as invisible as I can on the big day, giving as much thought as I can to my trademark style. About 2 weeks ago, I was using the same phrase ''I hate my picture being taken''. Some ingenious pr guy thought it was a bright idea to have a photo of yours truly on my own website,so off I went to get my picture taken. And I heard the photographer using these catch phrases ''just be natural, smile, come a bit closer, turn your head''! I felt like a model, but not really, (I am not a model, believe me). However, it has got me thinking, and it was a great learning experience for me, as photographers we think It’s all too common to get your picture taken, of course as we all really know, it’s not. What results in a great picture has as much to do what goes on before, and during a session, and not alone the magic click of the camera. Maybe one of the many great things of the art of photography, we can learn by standing in front of the camera, in stead of behind. Yours truly, Eddie

New Wedding Belle Magazine

I have been very lucky this year with magazines publishing my work, and the team from Wedding Belle Magazine have picked another one of my weddings to be featured in the Magazine....yippee!
Its the Winter issue and it should be in The Shops next week, and its the wedding of Ruth and Alan! So if you see a mag with this lady on the cover, go buy it..:) ( cover image is not my work i will find out who did it.)

The Clown!

Its nearing the end of 2006, and as i am busy putting out album designs, its time for some reflection. The reason for this was sparked because off a recent visit with my son, to a medical clinic (don't worry the baba is OK , but he needs a small operation in January 2007. I tried to find a parking space and after 10 min of driving spotted a space, well of course i wasn't the only one and someone got in there before me. That did not really make me happy, and of course i blamed the universe and Dublin traffic, for the great injustice that was brought upon me...:) I did manage to look at the guy getting out of the car, and he was a Clown! ( no really) he had the full gear on funny trousers the painted face the whole lot. I found a spot anyway, and me and The Clown met again, as we were buying our parking tickets. When i was walking to the medical clinic i just saw The Clown again, almost running in to the Children's Hospital! And of course that's where it hits me, Mr Clown was urgently called to the Hospital to relieve some poor kids, suffering, bringing at least a smile to their faces, and i realised again that no matter how shitty lives sometimes gets, theire are children and parents at this time, who are a lot worse off than i am. So i think reflection is important, so make sure to enjoy the Holiday season, have some great time with your loved ones...:) and think about the kids and parentsevery where around the world that need our support.
